A 500 hectare olive project for the production of high quality extra virgin olive oil. The Hispano Argentina Del Olivo is a project of 1000 hectares of olives that will be established in 2 stages of 500 hectares each. The project is located in Andangala, north west of Catamarca province.
Andangala was the first place where olives were planted in Catamarca (1935), and the first olive mill, Huasan, was established in 1950, 3 km from Andangala. In light of the studies that were conducted, we concluded that the location of the project is perfect for the production of high quality olive oil. The oil that the project is due to produce should comply with the IOOC standards. The main olive varieties should be: cv. Coratina, cv. Barnea, cv. Hojiblanca, cv. Picholine Langdouc, cv. Arbequina, cv. Picual and cv. Koroneiki. The project will adopt the newest technologies of irrigation, irrigation sensors and controllers that will allow high efficiency in water and fertilizer management. In addition, these technologies should result in high quality oil, high productivity and a more environmentally friendly irrigation system.
The project is in its initial stages, and we plan to start the establishment stages in coming days.
